CHOCOLATE CHIA SEED SHAKE - WITH VANNILA ICE CREAM




An Energiser chia seed drink! It's spring here in Houston but feels like summer.  We started having chill drinks and ice cream and the kids just wanted daily after they comes from the school.  I wanted to start summer drinks recipe in a healthy way and that's what made me to choose chia seeds.  It has wonderful health benefits which will be helpful in weight loss, supports brain and heart health, anti inflammatory and a very good blood sugar stabilizer.  
Chia seeds are a good source of fiber and contains more protein, calcium, iron and zinc.   It is very good for athletes and I read it in a article that Mayan warriors have consumed chia seeds as an energiser.  



Two months back I bought flax seeds in Costco and right next to it I saw chia seeds.  I did not know about this or I never heard too.  Last week in a food channel it happened to see falooda recipe and they add this chia seeds and also I came to know about the health benefits of it.  What else I do, the next day I went to Costco and bought it :-)  I will try to post more recipes with chia seeds and am starting with very simple shake recipe which we can do it in a seconds.   Enjoy making this drink and chill out :-)

INGREDIENTS:

Chia seeds           - 2 tsp
Milk                    - 1 cup (I used 2%) 
Chocolate syrup - 2 tsp
Honey                - 1 tsp
Ice cream           - 1 scoop (I used vannila)

HOW TO MAKE:

In a bowl mix all the ingredients except ice cream.  



 Mix well and refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours or overnight.   You could see the texture of the mixture in the below pic.



Mix well and transfer to the serving cup and serve chilled with top of ice cream.  


TIPS:

Mix chia seeds in the water and keep refrigerate.  Add honey and any cut fruits and have it for a breakfast. 

Adding ice cream is an optional and you can add any fruits too.

Keep refrigerate chia seeds mixture and just eat it with any toppings or as it is.
