ADAI KOZHUKATTAI



Adai Kozhukattai - I never heard about this wonderful recipe until my friend Varsha asked me to try this.  What an idea of making this kozhukattai by using Adai batter!  The recipe was very new to me and trust me it was scrumptious.  I have gone through the recipe here "Adai Kozhukattai", and thank you so much Varsha for making me to try this wonderful kozhukattai.  Enjoy making this mouth watering kozhukattai for a evening snack or dinner!


INGREDIENTS:

Adai batter          - 1 cup (Refer recipe here: Adai Batter

To temper:

Oil                       - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds     - 1/4 tsp
Channa dhal        - 1 tsp
Urad dhal            - 1 tsp
Curry leaves       - few
Hing / Asafoetid - a pinch

HOW TO MAKE:

Heat oil in a non stick kadai / pan splutter mustard seeds and add urad dhal, channa dhal.  Add curry leaves and asafoetida.   Add the adai batter.  


Keep stirring continously until the mixture comes together like a dough.  Turn off the flame.  When it is warm enough to handle, green your palm and start making like balls or pidi shape.  


Steam the kozhukattaies for 20 to 25 minutes until it get cooked.  


Serve hot with chutney or sambar.


TIPS:

For adai I add drumstick leaves or coriander leaves.  I skipped that step for making this kozhukattai. Can be added that too.

Grind coarsely, do not make smooth batter.

Grated coconut can be added.

Left overs kozhukattaies, can be mashed and use it for making usili also can be used for making more kozhambu.
