TOFU FRY / TOFU STIR FRY

As I mentioned earlier in Tofu Curry post, Organic Tofu is available in Costco.  I started adding tofu in our regular diet weekly once and this is my second post Tofu Fry.  An awesome perfect evening snack and can be eaten side with rice too.  Since I have given a detailed health benefit in the earlier post I would like to go directly to the recipe!

INGREDIENTS:

Tofu                        - 2 cups cut into cubes
Red chilli powder  - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder   - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala        - 1/4 tsp
Lemon juice           - 2 tsp
Salt                         - to taste
Coconut oil            - 2 tsp

HOW TO MAKE:

Wash tofu and cut into cubes.  Heat a tsp of oil in a pan and shallow fry the tofu pieces till it turn to golden brown.  Remove it gently without breaking and keep aside.

Heat a tsp of oil in the kadai / pan add red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and turmeric powder.  Stir well until the raw smell goes off.  Add needed salt and mix well.  Add tofu pieces and mix gently without breaking it.  Make sure that the masala get coated with all the pieces. Stir now and then and cook for 5 mins.  Turn off the stove.

Add 2 tsp of lemon juice and serve hot.  This fry can be eaten as a snack / appetizer or can be served as side.

TIPS:

Onion, capsicum and tomatoes can be added too.

Adding other masalas absolutely your choice.

I used coconut oil and other cooking oils can be used too.

Amchur powder can be used instead lemon juice.  Tamarind paste can be used too.  If you doesn't like sour taste this step can be skipped.

Wash tofu and cut into cubes.
