OATS VENPONGAL


Another easiest delicous oats recipe in three steps.  As you all know oats is good for health and I have detailed its health benefits in my previous posts.  So I just want to move on the recipe description. Add this scrumptious food on your reglar diet and trust me it is kids friendly food too!!!

INGREDIETNS:

Steel cut oats                 - 1 cup
Yellow moongdal          - 1/4 cup
Ghee                             - 3 tsp
Salt                               - to taste

TO TEMPER:

Ghee                            - 1 tsp
Cashews                      - 5 to 6 break into pieces
Cumin seeds               - 1 tsp
Pepper                        - 1/4 tsp


HOW TO MAKE:

Pressure cook oats and yellow moongdal together along with needed salt and allow 4 whistles. Meanwhile heat tsp of ghee and fry cashews, cumin seeds and pepper.  Fry until the cashews turn golden brown.  After the steam got released add remaining ghee and and mix well.  Add fried cashews and seasoning.  




Blend well and serve with sambar and chutney as your choice. 



TIPS:

Grated ginger can be added.

Can be made with quaker oats too.  If so, cook dal and oats separately and then mix it together.
