SOOJI KA CHIEELA | RAVA CHILLA | SEMOLINA CHILLA | RAVA ROTI

A quick and easy breakfast / snack recipe of chilla made with Rava (Sooji or Creame of wheat). Usually chillas are savory pancakes made from gram flour or lentils.  I made chillas from rava also known as sooji or semolina. These chillas are crispy outside and soft inside and very easy to prepare.  We make these the same way like bean chilla, oats chilla, ragi chilla, bakri chilla and only ingredient that gets replaced is besan, oats, ragi instead rava.  Chillas can be served with any chutneys, sambar and tomato ketchup also goes well.

Rava / Sooji has more health benefits as improves heart health, Keeps bones and nervous system healthy, Prevents anemia, boosts energy, rich in iron, also it contains no cholesterol. It helps for weight loss as semolina takes a long time to digest which keeps you full for a long time so by eating semolina in your breakfast can take one step forward to lose weight.

Grind green chilli & ginger coarsely.  In a bowl take rava, curd, grated carrot, chopped coriander leaves, ginger & green chilli paste and needed salt.  Mix well and make batter by adding water little by little.  Consistency should be like thick like oothappam batter.  Should not be watery consistency.  Keep aside, let the batter soak for 20 to 30 minutes.

Heat dosa tava, and pour little batter like oothappam.  Grease roll bin in oil and make a hole in the centre.  Drizzle oil in the hole and sides and let get cook.

When the bottom change its color to brown flip the other side and cook till it cook and get brown in color.  Remove from the tava.

Serve hot with any choice of your chutney or ketchup.

TIPS:

Add onion, beans, peas any veggies.

Do not add soda for making it soft, resting the batter for 20 to mins gives very good soft chillas.
