STEP BY STEP KANDHARAPPAM 

INGREDIENTS:

Rice            - 1 cup 
Urad dal      - 1 tbsp
Moong dal   - 1 tbsp 
Jaggery      - 1 cup
Cardamom  - 2 
Coconut      - 1/4 cup grated
Water          - as required 
Oil              - for frying 

HOW TO MAKE:

In a bowl take rice, urad dal and moong dal together. Wash well and soak for 2 hours. Drain water completely and transfer to blender.  Add grated coconut and cardamom.

Grind into fine paste by adding very little water. Add jaggery and grind one more time without adding water. Now the batter is ready.

Batter should be like dosa batter consistency. Heat oil in a pan, take a ladle of batter and pour in the center without breaking the flow. splash oil around the appam and flip the other side. Cook both sides until golden brown.

Kandharappam is ready to serve.

 

TIPS:

This batter can be pour in the appam/appe pan instead frying them in the oil. 

Do not add more water and grind as the jaggery leaves water.
