POHA PEPPER SEV / AVAL MILAGU SEV / POHA SEV




I always try to make some new snack for every krishna jayanthi.  This year could not make it earlier to blog but I found an awesome crispy pepper sev by using poha / aval.  Aval is one of the favourite food for Lord Krishna 😄  From yesterday, I was breaking my head to make something new by using this aval and yup!!!!! finally it came to my thought that making this wonderful pepper sev.  I have made butter sev couple of years back and I have modified the version for this pepper sev by adding poha as an extra ingredient.   It was delicious and my kids, husband and my mother in law all loved it!!! what else we need as an appreciation of token for the new recipe! 😀  Try this easy snack for this Gokulashtami! INGREDIENTS:

Rice flour            - 1 cup
Poha                    - 1/2 cup
Fried gram dal     - 1/4 cup
Butter                  - 2 tsp
Asafoetida           - 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds        - 1 tsp
Pepper powder    - 1/4 tsp or as needed
Salt                      -  to taste

HOW TO MAKE:

Make a fine powder of poha and fried gram dal. 


In a bowl add rice flour, grounded poha and fried gram dal flour, asafoetida, pepper powder, cumin seeds, needed salt and melted butter.  Mix it with hand and make a crumbs texture and add water little by little to make a fine dough.  


Heat oil in a deep kadai / pan.  Take a murukku press and fill up with mixed dough.  When the oil is hot enough to fry,  press the dough in the oil little by little.  Flip it and fry until the ooozzz sound goes off!


Enjoy crispy sev :-)


TIPS:

I made it as a sev, and can be made it circle to make a murukku.  

Ajwain can be added instead cumin seeds.

Urad flour can be added instead fried gram dal flour.
