FALAFEL | HOW TO MAKE FALAFEL

Falafel is a common food eaten in the middle east.  I have tried this during my Middle East trip to Oman, and I thought it is our "Masala Vadai" and can be eaten with the dip (Hummus) 😂.  It was very delicious and then I never had a chance to taste Falafel.  After we moved to Houston, we went to  Fadi, a Mediterranean restaurant and I had falafel wrap which was super delicious and from then I was thinking to make this at home.  Last week my friend Hema said, she tried making vada by adding Dill leaves and that tempted me to make Falafel as I soaked Channa for making Channa Masala 😎🙈 Kids refused to this Falafel as they thought it is Masala Vada 😱 I explained to them and they loved it with Pita Bread.  I did spread hummus inside the pita bread, stuffed some veggies along with falafel and it was yummilicious 😋😋 Very healthy as it has channa and other herbs, and other veggies in the sandwich.

HOW TO MAKE:

Soak chickpeas overnight.  Wash well then grind all the ingredients along with needed salt and make a corase paste.  Keep the ground paste in the fridge for 30 mins.

Make equal sized balls out of the mixture.  Heat oil in a kadai, take a ball and gently flatten it and one by one drop in the hot oil.  Do not over crowded.  Proceed the with rest of the mixture.

Flip now and then and fry till it get golden brown and take the falafels out from the oil once the zzzzz sound stops.  Drain the excess oil on the paper towel.

Serve hot with HUMMUS or stuff in Pita Bread along with hummus and some veggies.

TIPS:

Tinned chickpeas can be used instead soaking them overnight.

Pepper powder can be added instead red chilli powder.

Tahini paste / Sesame paste can be added instead adding sesame seeds.
