GOKULASHTAMI SPECIAL - AVAL PUTTU | POHA PUTTU | POHA SWEET PUTTU

KRISHNA JAYANTHI is falling on Sep 2 this year 2018.  I was looking for a simple and easy recipe for this Gokulashtami and this is what I made, which is super easy and scrumptious.  Couple of years back I made AVAL KESARI which was super cool and my friends loved a lot.  This puttu is super easy and must try one for this Gokulashtami.

INGREDIENTS:

Aval / Poha            - 1 cup (Think or Thin)
Jaggery                   - 1 cup
Grated coconut       - 1/4 cup
Water                      - 2 cups
Cardamom powder - a pinch

HOW TO MAKE:

Powder aval / poha.  Take powdered poha in a bowl and add hot water little by little and mix well.  Keep aside for 15 mins and after 15 mins it will be fluffy.

In a tawa take jaggery and add 1/4 cup of water make a syrup.  Boil well and make it till it get one string consistency.

Take a little water in a bowl and drop little jaggery syrup.  It should not get dissolve in the water and it should be able to form a ball.  Take the ball in and if you press and release your fingers you can able to see one string as shown in the below picture.  Once it reach the consistency then cardamom powder and grated coconut.  Mix well.

Add soaked poha and mix well carefully to avoid lumps.

Sweet Poha Puttu is ready.

TIPS:

At the end fried nuts can be added.

This puttu can be used as a stuffing for the Pooran Boli & kozhukattai.
