WALNUT CHUTNEY

Last week my friend Meera said that she made this chutney and I wondered and asked how it will be!  She said it was too good and I could not resist myself making this chutney.  Yes....it is super delicious and creamy.  It is very simple and quick recipe and very tasty as well.  Try this yummy chutney and let me know how do you like it!

INGREDIENTS:

Grated coconut    - 1 cup
Walnut                 - 1 cup
Coriander leaves  - 1 cup
Tamarind              - small ball size
Red chillies          - 4 to 5
Salt                       - to taste

TO TEMPER:

Oil                       - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds     - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal              - 1 tsp

HOW TO MAKE:

Add all the "Ingredients" things in the blender / mixie and make a fine paste by adding little water.  The consistency should be neither thick nor thin.  Transfer the chutney to the serving bowl.

Heat oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds add urad dal.  Season on the top of the chutney.

Serve hot with Idli, Dosa, Pongal & Vada :-)

TIPS:

Try with other nuts like Almond, Cashews as well.

Asafoetida can be added while seasoning for the nice aroma.

Instead coriander leaves, curry leaves or mint leaves can be added too or three of them together.

Tamarind is just to give the tangy taste and can be avoided too.

Make it thick chutney and that can be eaten with rice as thogayal.

I have used gingelly oil for seasoning, sunflower oil or any other oil can be used.
