DRUMSTICK LEAVES TEA | MORINGA TEA

Drink this energizing miracle drink daily that is believed to have many benefits and its uses range from health and beauty to help with preventing and curing diseases! Drumstick tree is a plant that is often called the Moringa Oleifera, the miracle tree, the ben oil tree or the horseradish tree.  An Indian miracle drumstick tree has been used for centuries due to its medical properties and health benefits.  It also has antifungal, antiviral, antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties.

When I went to Costco last week, I saw a packet of Moringa powder near the Organic isle.  I was pleasantly surprised that its medicinal benefits have also started being recognized here in the US. In India, drumstick leaves are very common and easily available. I decided that it would be more nutritious if we used the fresh leaves to make tea rather than using a processed powder form. Hence I could not resist making this wonderful healthy drink for myself and blogging for you all 😁

INGREDIENTS:

Drumstick leaves - 1/4 cup
Cardamom           - 1 or 2
Cinnamon stick   - small piece
Water                   - 3 cups

HOW TO MAKE:

Remove drumstick leaves from the stem and put in the water for 20 mins.  Wash well.  Take 3 cups water in a deep vessel and add drumstick leaves, cardamom & cinnamon stick.

Allow to boil till the leaves shrinks.  Turn off the stove and strain the leaves by using strainer.  Serve hot.

TIPS:

Fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds & pepper can be added and adding other spices is absolutely our choice.

Do not over cook the leaves as it may give bitter taste and will ended up adding sugar or honey.

Wait till the color changes and that will give you the essence of moringa.

Adding little honey is fine but adding sugar is not healthy at all.
