STEP BY STEP SENAI KIZHANGU KOOTU

INGREDIENTS:
Senaikizhangu    - 2 cups
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp 
Red chili powder  - 1 tsp 
Moongdal            - 1 cup (pressure cook with 3 cups of water)
Salt                    - to taste


TO TEMPER:
Oil -  1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds   - 1 tsp
Curry leaves   - few
Asafoetida      - 1/4 tsp
Red chili         - 1 

HOW TO MAKE:

Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, add cumin seeds, red chilies, asafoetida and curry leaves. Add chopped senai kizhangu along with chili powder and turmeric powder and needed salt.

 

Mix well and add 2 cups of water.

Cook yam until soft. Add cooked moong dal.

Mix well and bring it to boil. Turn off the stove.

Senaikizhangu Kootu is ready to serve.
