MAA LADOO / POTTUKADALAI LADOO / ROASTED GRAM LADOO

Maa Ladoo is nothing but Pottukadalai Urundai and it is a very easy sweet recipe.   It is very healthy especially for kids.  I still remember that my avva (my grandma) used to make this urundai when we go to Coimbatore for our holidays.  It is more like Rava Laddu and tastes awesome.  My hubby is fond of sweets and he wants to have atleast one sweet a day.  So I always make some and keep for him and this week I have decided to make this maa laddu.  It is very healthy and protein rich and the good thing is my kids just loved it.  So I can make it whenever they wants :-)  It is easy to make and very good sweet for Diwali too!  Definitely this will be in my list for this Diwali :-)

INGREDIENTS:

Pottukadalai / Fried gram dhal  - 1 cup
Sugar                                          - 3/4 cup
Cardamom powder                     - a pinch
Ghee                                           - 1/4 cup or as needed
Cashew nuts                               - 4 to 5 tsp break into pieces

HOW TO MAKE:

Make a fine powder of pottukadalai and sugar separately in a blender / mixie.

Heat two tsp of ghee and fry the cashews until it turn into golden brown.  In a bowl add both grounded pottukadalai and sugar powder, cardamom powder and fried cashews.  Mix it well by hands.

Now add 1/4 cup of ghee or as needed and mix well.  Take the mixture little by little and start to shape into small ball size of ladoos.  If the shape is not coming then add little more ghee to shape it well.

Keep it in an airtight container.

TIPS:

I find too much sweet adding a cup of sugar.  If you want add 1:1 proportion.

Add more ghee if you can't make a fine shape.

My avva used to grind pottukadalai and sugar together and if you want try that too.
