Pasi Paruppu Idli - Healthy protein rich idlies without rice!  Nowadays this idli is moving around like Virus but healthy virus :-) One of my friend Shilpa Bellare posted in Insta Pot page and I found it very interesting!  I was very curious how this will be very soft and fluffy like our usual idli which we make with rice and urad!  The right after next day I soaked Moong & Urad dals and it was amazing!!  It was super good and delicious with sambar 😋 . I did not try to make dosa yet, but I would definitely say that it will be scrumptious!  Add ginger, garlic and green chilli paste for flavorful dosa!

INGREDIENTS:

Moongdal / Pasi Paruppu - 1 cup
Urad dal                            - 1 cup
Salt                                    - as needed

HOW TO MAKE:

Soak Moong & Urad dal seperately for 3 to 4 hours.  Grind moong into coarse paste by adding water and grind urad into a fluffy smooth paste like we do for our regular idli.  Mix both paste together by adding needed salt.  Ferment fo 5 to 6 hours or overnight!


After fermenting mix well and add little water to bring our regular idli batter consistency.  The consistency should not be neither very thick nor thin!  Grease idli plates with oil and pour the laddle of batter in each mould.  Steam till it get cooked.  Check with your finger and if not sticky then it is cooked!  Serve hot with sambar or any choice of chutney!


TIPS:

For masala moong dal Idli or Dosa- add green chilli, ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder.  You can chopped onions too.

I did not add turmeric powder for idli, as the dal is yellow!  If you like more colorful then add turmeric powder!
