DRUMSTICK MASALA | MURUNGAIKKAI FRY WITHOUT COCONUT | DRUMSTICK MASALA CURRY


This is one of my favourite dish which my Mom makes.  Whenever she makes More Kuzhambu this Drumstick Masala will be there for side dish 😋 This is a perfect combo for sambar, rasam, curd rice and delicious with Morkuzhambu. DRUMSTICK MASALA STEP BY STEP

INGREDIENTS

Drumstick            - 3 Cut into pieces
Onion                   - 1 finely chopped
Tomato                 - 1 finely chopped
Garlic                   - 3 cloves crushed
Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp 
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder  - 1 tsp
Curry leaves         - few
Salt                       - to taste

TO TEMPER

Oil                        - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds      - 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds         - 1 tbsp

HOW TO MAKE

Cut drumstick into pieces.  In a vessel add drumstick and a cup of water, cook along with turmeric powder and needed salt.  Cook till the drumstick tender. 


Heat oil in a kadai splutter mustard seeds add cumin seeds.  Add chopped onion, crushed garlic, curry leaves and little salt.  Remember we added salt in drumstick as well.  Saute till onion translucent. Add chopped tomatoes. 


Add red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder.  Mix them well and cook till tomatoes are soft.  Do not add water. 



When the tomatoes are soft add cooked drumstick and mix well with masalas. Cook in a medium flame for 5 more minutes.  Turn off the stove.  Serve with sambar rice, rasam rice, curd rice and it is a very good combo for morkuzhambu as well.  


TIPS:

Drumstick can be cooked directly after adding tomatoes as well.

Ginger garlic paste & garam masala can be added too.
