An easy Aval Kesari recipe for this Gokulashtami! I was planning to make Aval / Poha laddu and then I thought of making this quick recipe for pooja. It is one of the simplest and easiest recipe. Enjoy making this quick recipe and have a great pooja.
INGREDIENTS:
Aval - 1 Cup
Sugar - 1 1/2 cup
Water - 3 cups
Cashews - 10
Red food color - 1/4 tsp
Ghee - 2 to 3 tsp
HOW TO MAKE:
Dry roast aval in a pan or a kadai and fry until the nice aroma comes. Do not burnt. Allow it to cool and in a blender grind it as a coarse powder. Keep aside. Heat a tsp of ghee in a small pan and fry cashews until turn into golden brown. Keep aside.
Boil 3 cups of water in a kadai or in a deep pan. When water starts boiling add coarse aval little by little. Stir continuously to avoid lumps. Add 1/4 tsp of food color and blend well.
Once the aval get cooked add sugar and stir continuously.
Blend well and and add fried cashews. Pour a tsp of ghee on the top.
Aval Kesari is ready:-) Serve hot or cold.
TIPS:
For coloring pinch of saffron also can be added.
You can add pinch of cardamom powder too. If you add saffron then cardamom need not to be added.
I have added 2 tsp of ghee and you can add a tsp extra if you want.
1:2 sugar can be added. I have reduced 1/2 cup of sugar and for us it was perfect.
