BUTTER THATTAI


Very crispy and very tasty...Wanna make this easy thattai for this Gokulashtami.  It is called butter thattai / uppu thattai. Try this thattai and enjoy Gokulashtami :-)

INGREDIENTS:

Rice flour           - 1 cup
Urad flour          - 1/4 cup
Butter                 - 4 tsp
Sesame seeds     - 1 tsp
Hing                   - a pinch
Salt                     - as needed
Oil                      - for deep frying

HOW TO MAKE:

In a bowl add rice, urad dhal flour, a pinch of asafoetida / hing, sesame seeds and needed salt.  Melt the butter and add into it.  Mix well and make a soft dough by adding water little by little.


Start to make small balls out of it.  Meanwhile heat oil in a kadai.  Keep the balls aside.  Take a ziploc cover and grease oil on a top.  Once the oil heaten up start to make thin circle from each balls.  Keep a ball on ziploc and press gently by your fingers and make a small thin circle.


Start frying the thattaies and at a time you can fry 5 to 6 thattaies depends on the kadai.


Fry until it turn into golden brown and crispy.


Drain thattaies on a paper towel and once it cooled down store it in an airtight container.  It will last for a week and enjoy crunchy munchy thattaies :-)



TIPS:

Make dough as a chappathi dough and do not make it too watery.
