Spicy, hot and red chutney... yummmm :-) It is very simple and easy recipe. The tangy tomatoes and hot red chillies gives an awesome taste. This chutney well goes with idly / dosa and particularly for millet flour dosas. My mom makes this chutney whenever she is running out of onions. Enjoy this scrumptious chutney.
INGREDIENTS:
Red chillies - 10
Tomatoes - 5
Sesame oil - 2 tsp
Salt - as needed
To temper:
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
HOW TO MAKE:
In a blender / mixie make a fine paste of tomatoes and red chillies. Add needed salt. No need to add water.
Heat oil in a pan / tava and splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and asafoetida. Pour the tomato and red chilli mixture. Allow to boil and cook until the raw smell goes. Pour the sesame oil. Cook until the mixture leave the oil.
Red chilli chutney is ready.
TIPS:
Do not add water.
Adding sesame oil will give an extra flavour and it is optional.
