STEP BY STEP RED RICE PUTTU
INGREDIENTS:
Chemba puttu flour - 1 cup
Green chili - 3 - 4
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
TO TEMPER:
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Red Chili - 2 break into pieces
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Take all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Add water little by little and bring to watery consistency. Make sure there is no lumps.
Heat oil in a wide pan splutter mustard seeds add urad dal, red chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves. Saute until urad dal golden brown. Add mixed batter.
Mix well and stir occasionally. Slowly will get thicken and form thick dough.
Break the pieces and keep stirring and it will start turn crumbs texture. Turn off the stove when it starts forming a powdered crumbs texture.
Red Rice Puttu is ready to serve 😋😋
TIPS:
Usually we make puttu by steaming the puttu flour. After steaming we can season with spices for making spicy version.
For a change this version yields nice and spicy puttu since it made with pan directly.
This version helps to avoid using more vessels 😎
Adding spices is absolutely on your choice.
