DOODH PEDA / MILK PEDA

Milk peda is very known and popular sweet made for Diwali.  I just love milk sweets, that too I still remember, in my childhood days, every month during salary time my mom used to buy pal peda (Pal-Milk).  In Tamil milk is called as Pal. I never tried making this doodh peda until I learnt this easy recipe from one of my friend Chenchu.  Every thursday she makes doodh peda as a neivedhyam for Shiridi Baba and she distributes in the temple for all the devotees.  Before we knew each other I did not know that this was made by Chenchu instead it is made by temple people.  When we became friends, it was very surprised that the Doodh Peda is made by Chenchu :-)  After knowing this how come Kaushi keep quiet :-)  I asked the recipe from her and in the next week I tried this Doodh Peda and it turned out really well.  She appreciated me so much that I have made some designs on the peda which she make it as plain.  Thank you so much Chenchu for this easy and delicious Doodh Peda :-) This is very easy to make and try for this Diwali :-)

INGREDIENTS:

Sweetened condensed milk - 1 tin
Milk powder                        - 1 cup
Butter stick                          - 250 gm

HOW TO MAKE:

In a kadai add condensed milk, milk powder and butter stick.  Keep it in a medium flame.

It will get start melting and that time keep stirring well to avoid lumps.  Keep stirring until it starts leave the sides of the kadai / pan.  Soon it will form a kind off non sticky dough and you should able to roll it as a ball.  Turn off the stove.

When it is warm enough in a clean surface knead the mixture well and form it as a soft dough.  Make it equal parts and on the clean surface make a thick circle by using a roll pin.  Use cookie cutter as you wish and make a shapes as shown in the picture.

Take a small ball and flatten it in your palm.  Use pressure cooker whistle to make a below design as shown in the picture.

Use fork and give impression on the side of the circle.

TIPS:

Do shapes when it is warm and when it dry it will leave crack when you shape them.

If it get dry add warm milk and mix well.  Then start making a shape.

Its optional to garnish with chopped nuts.

I used a butter stick hence I didn't use ghee.  If you use ghee then skip butter.
