RAGI SEMIYA UPMA / FINGER MILLET SEMIYA UPMA


Here is the another healthy and easy breakfast or dinner recipe with Ragi semiya.  I used anil ragi semiya for making this.  My kids just love semiya upma.  I got stored semiya in lemon and tamarind flavours.  They liked a lot.  This time I got plain ragi semiya and wanted make kitchadi or upma. Since they like upma than a kitchadi I made this delicious upma today :-)  Finger millet has more nutrition and it has lot benefits.  Add ragi / finger millet on your regular diet and stay healthy.

INGREDIENTS:

Ragi semiya           - 1 pkt (I used anil ragi semiya)
Onion                     - 1 finely chopped
Green chillies         - 3 to 4
Grated ginger         - 2 tsp
Salt                         - as needed

To temper:

Oil                          - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds        - 1/4 tsp
Urad dhal               - 1/2 tsp
Channa dhal           - 1 tsp
Curry leaves           - few

HOW TO MAKE:

Heat oil in a kadai splutter mustard seeds, add urad dhal and channa dhal.  Add curry leaves.  Add finely chopped onions and slitted green chillies.  Fry well until the onion get transparent.  Add grated ginger and fry until the nice aroma comes.  Add two cup of water for one pkt ragi semiya.  Add needed salt and allow to boil.  



When the water starts boiling add ragi semiya.  Immerse well inside the water and allow to cook in a lower flame.  When the ragi semiya cooked well make sure that there is no water in the upma.  


Serve with coconut chutney and this upma can be eaten without any chutney.
