BEETROOT IDLI


Beetroot has a lot of benefits and it is rich in folic acid, fiber, vitamins. My kids love beetroot.  That too my elder daughter Chinti, she eats raw beetroot :-)  This idli is super cool recipe and it is just add the grounded beetroot to the regular Idli Battter.  The color of this idli will tempt the kids and they will just grab the idlies like anything.  Also it is very healthy and that too in our breakfast adding vegetables is good right!? Last week my friend krithika told that she made spinach idli and that was the sparkle for me to make this delicious healthy idli.   I made beetroot poriyal last weekend and I kept two small beetroots to make this idli.  I added beetroot and add your favourite veggies to make different types of idli.  Enjoy making this healthy idlies.  



INGREDIENTS:

Idli Batter            - 2 cups
Beetroot               - 1/2 cup cut into pieces
Cumin seeds        - 1/2 tsp (optional)

HOW TO MAKE:

In a mixie or blender add beetroot pieces and cumin seeds and make a fine paste of it by adding little water.  Add the grounded paste in the idly batter. 


Mix well along with the batter.  Grease idli plates and pour mixed batter in the idli plates.  Steam cook the idli for 10 to 15 mins or until get cooked.  


Remove the idli from the plate and serve hot with chutney or sambar.  



TIPS:

Beetroot can be grated or grounded its upto you.

Can be tried with other vegetables and even with spinach.  

Asafoetida and other masalas can be added too.

Adding cumin seeds is optional and that can be skipped.
