BREAD PAKORA / BREAD BAJJI

Bread Pakora / Bread Bajji is in wish list for a long time and I made it today for evening snack.  I had no idea of how it would be coz, I never tasted before.  Whenever I see bread in the pantry I wanted to make it but could not do it.  It was awesome and delicious.  Kids just loved it with ketch up and for me and hubby green chutney :-)  Use different shape of cookie cutter and the kids will love it.   It is very simple and easy recipe which we can make it in 20 mins :-)

INGREDIENTS:

Bread slices                            - 2 to 3 (Or as needed)
Besan flour / Kadalai maavu  - 1/2 cup
Rice flour                                - 2 tsp
Red chilli powder                   - 1/2 tsp
Cooking soda                          - 2 pinches
Asafoetida                              - a pinch
Cumin seeds / Jeera               - 1/4 tsp
Salt                                         - as needed
Oil                                          - for deep frying

HOW TO MAKE:

Cut off bread edges and cut bread into pieces.  I cut them into squares and use cookie cutter for different shapes.  In a bowl mix all the ingredients except oil and add water little by little make a batter.  The consistency should be thick but the batter should easily spread and coat well on the bread nicely so adjust the batter consistency accordingly.

Heat oil in a kadai and dip each bread pieces in the batter and fry it in the oil.

Keep it in a medium flame and cook both sides.  Fry until it gets golden color.

Remove it from the oil and drain it on the paper towel.  Serve with any chutney or ketch up.

TIPS:

Ajwain seeds can be added instead cumin seeds or both can be added too.

Use cookie cutter for making different shapes.
