Methi Dal | Methi Pappu | Fenugreek Dal Curry

STEP BY STEP METHI DAL:

INGREDIENTS:

Methi leaves - 1 bunch Toor dal - 1 cup Onion - 1 big Tomato - 2 Green Chili - 4 Garlic - 4 cloves crushed Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp Coriander powder - 1 tsp Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp Garam Masala - 1 tsp Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Salt - to taste TO TEMPER:
Oil - 2 tbsp Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp

HOW TO MAKE:

Heat oil in a kadai splutter mustard seeds, add cumin seeds. Add chopped onion, crushed garlic, green chilies (slitted in the middle) along with needed salt. Saute and cook until translucent.



Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Mix well and cook until tomatoes are soft. 


Add red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala along with chopped fenugreek leaves.  Chop leaves along with stems do not throw the stem.  Mix well and cook fenugreek leaves till soft. 


Add cooked toor dal, and add water for needed consistency.  Mix well and bring to boil.  Turn off the stove. 


Methi Dal is ready to serve 😋😋


TIPS:

Chop fenugreek along with stem and do not throw them. 

Ginger paste can be added too. 

Green chilies and red chillies been added, but adjust the spice level according to your taste.
