INGREDIENTS:
Green gram dhal - 1 1/2 Cups
Onion - 2 finely chopped
Tomato - 2 finely chopped
Ginger Garlic paste - 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 Tsp
Garam Masala /
Sabji Masala powder - 1 Tsp
Chilli powder - 1 Tsp
Oil - 2 Tsp
Salt - as needed
FOR SEASONING:
Ghee - 1/4 Tsp
Red Chilli - 1
Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 Tsp
HOW TO MAKE:
* Wash and soak the green gram dhal for 5 hours.
* Pressure cooker it with enough water and allow for 3 to 4 whistles.
* Heat a oil in a pan and add chopped onions fry it until turn brown in color then add ginger garlic paste.
* Add the chopped tomatoes and blend it till the raw smell goes and add turmeric, chilli powder and garam masala powder and mix it well. sprinkle little water and in 5 to 6 minutes it will turn as a gravy.
* Now add the cooked green gram dhal put enough water and add salt. Mix it well and cook for 10 minutes in medium flame.
* Transfer the curry in a serving bowl.
* Heat a ghee in a separate pan for seasoning, splutter cumin seeds, asafoetida and the red chilli. Add this seasoning in the cooked dhal.
* Serve with Chappathi, Zeera rice and steamed rice.
TIPS:
* If you forgot to soak the dhal then fry the dhal for 10 mins in pan and pressure cooker it and allow more whistles.
