AVAL PONGAL / POHA PONGAL



INGREDIENTS:

Aval / Poha            - 1 cup
Moongdhal             - 2 tsp
Jaggery                   - 3/4 cup
Milk                        - 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder - a pinch
Cashews                 - 10 broken
Ghee                       - 2 tsp

HOW TO MAKE:

Dry roast moongdhal in a frying pan.  Allow to cool down.  Take a deep pan and cook moongdhal with 1/2 cup of water.  Mash well and add jaggery powder.


Wash aval and drain the water.  Wait until the jaggery dissolve in the water then add aval.  Mix well and add milk.  Add cardamom powder. Blend well by adding 1 1/2 tsp ghee.  Side by side add 1/2 tsp of ghee in a pan and fry the cashews till it turn golden brown.



Garnish pongal with fried cashews.  Aval Pongal is ready..
