OATS IDLY



Instant oats idly for breakfast or dinner?  A healthy way to include in our diet at least two times a week. I have posted oats dosa a couple of months before and here I am with an excellent healthy recipe oats idly.  Highly nutritious, high fiber oatmeal can be a regular food in our breakfast.  I prefers to give this oats to my kids atleast two times a week.  Here it is an instant oats recipe to kick start your day :-)

INGREDIENTS:

Oats                    - 1 cup
Rava / Semolina - 1/2 cup
Grated carrot      - 1/4 cup
Curd                   - 1 cup
Green chillies     - 2 finely chopped
Asafoetida          - a pinch
Cooking soda     - a pinch
Salt                     - as needed

HOW TO MAKE:

Dry roast oats in a kadai until the nice aroma comes.  Allow to cool down and make a fine powder.


Heat a tsp of oil in a kadai splutter mustard seeds, add green chillies and grated ginger.  Give 30 secs stir then add grated carrot.  Blend well.  Allow to cool down.  In a bowl add grounded oats powder, rava, curd, carrot seasoning, soda, asafoetida and needed salt.  Add water little by little and make it like idly batter consistency.



Grease idly plate with gingelly oil and pour a ladle of batter in each moulds.  Cook it for 10 to 12 mins or until the idlies get cooked.


Take out the idlies with spoon and serve hot.



Serve hot oats idlies with any chutney, sambar or kurma.



TIPS:

Do not add more water.  Watery consistency will result flatted idlies.

Make it like dosa batter consistency for making oats dosa.

Rava will give thick consistency if you leave a batter for long time.  Add water if needed.
