Radish Thokku is one of my favourite dishes which my friend Radhika's mom makes often. Its best eaten as a combination with rasam rice. A couple of months ago, I posted peas thooku and now I am bringing you a different version with radish. Enjoy this delicious dish with rasam rice and let me know your feedback :-)
INGREDIENTS:
Radish - 5 to 6
Onion - 1 finely chopped
Tomato - 3 finely chopped
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Salt - as needed
To temper:
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - few
HOW TO MAKE:
Wash and peel radish skin. Cut into small pieces and keep aside.
In a pressure cooker add radish pieces, chopped onions and tomatoes, red chilli, coriander, turmeric, salt, asafoetida and a cup of water. Do not add more water. Pressure cook it and allow 2 to 3 whistles. Once the steam released keep aside.
Heat oil in a kadai splutter mustard seeds and add curry leaves. Add cooked radish mixture. Allow to boil and cook until the mixture form a thick gravy.
Radish thokku is ready to serve. Rasam and curd rice is the best combo and can mix with steamed rice too :-)
Serve with rice, idli, dosa, chapathi and more!
