KARA PORI / MASALA PORI / SPICY PUFFED RICE



Kara pori is one of our favourite snack in our family.   Easy to prepare and whenever we feel like eat something my grandmother always prepare this.  She always have it prepared and stored in an airtight container.  Tastes delicious :-)  Lets move to know how to make this tasty kara pori.

INGREDIENTS:

Pori / Puffed rice    - 3 cups
Fried gram &
Peanuts                  - 1 cup
Turmeric powder  - 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida            - a pinch
Garlic                   - 2 cloves
Oil                        - 1 tsp
Curry leaves         - few
Salt                       - as needed

HOW TO MAKE:

Heat oil in a kadai and fry peanuts and fried gram.    Fry until it turn into light brown in color. Take a garlic and crush without peel the skin.  Add the garlic, curry leaves and asafoetida.  Add red chilli powder and turmeric powder and needed salt.  Blend well.  


Add puffed rice and blend well.  Fry till the pori becomes crisp.  Turn off the stove and toss well.


TIPS:

You can season red chilli or more milagai instead of red chilli powder.

Without adding oil, you can dry roast the fried gram and peanuts separately then add with pori at the last.
