ONION RINGS

A couple of weeks ago in one of the Australian programs  (Aussie MKR ) I have come across this wonderful snack called Onion Rings which sparkled me to share the same in my kitchen.  Here you go for an excellent snack like our bajji.  I just changed the ingredients to bring our kinda flavours and touch.  Enjoy making this rings for evening snack

INGREDIENTS:

Big onions                 - 2
Maida                        -  1/2 cup
Rice flour                  -  2 tsp
Corn flour                 - 1 tsp
Besan flour               - 2 tsp
Red chilli powder     - 1/2 tsp
Cooking soda           - a pinch
Asafoetida                - a pinch
Salt                           - as needed
Oil                            - for frying

HOW TO MAKE:

Cut onions in neither thick nor thin rounds.   Separate the onion slices into rings and keep aside. Sprinkle a tsp of maida on the rings and just dust it.

In a bowl mix maida, rice flour, corn flour, besan flour, red chilli powder, cooking soda, asafoetida and salt.  Add water little by litte and make a batter.  The batter consistency should not be watery.  It should be neither thick nor thin.

Heat oil in a kadai and dip onion rings one by one in the batter and put in the oil.  Fry well until the rings turn in to golden brown.

Drain the rings in the tissue and serve with ketch up or any sauce or chutney :-)

TIPS:

Dust the rings in maida allow the rings not to stick in the batter.

Add ginger garlic paste for fine flavour.
