PARUPU THOGAYAL

My grandma's Parupu Thogayal.  When she grind this togayal in "Ammi" (hand grinder) that flavour will make us to feel hungry.  Rasam is the best combo for this thogayal and ofcourse Tamarind rice too :-)  Very easy to make and tastes yummmm...Have this thogayal in hot rice with sesame oil....Awesome :-)

INGREDIENTS:

Toor dhal /
Thuvaram Parupu   - 1/2 cup
Red chillies             - 3 to 4
Garlic                     - 1 clove
Asafoetida              - a pinch
Salt                         - as needed
Oil                          - 1/2 tsp

HOW TO MAKE:

Heat oil in a kadai and fry the dhal and red chillies together till turn into golden brown.

Allow to cool down.  Peel garlic clove and grind it to a coarse with added toor dhal, red chillies, asafoetida and salt.  Do not grind it to fine paste.

Eat with hot rice and sesame oil or ghee, rasam rice, sambar rice, curd rice and tamarind rice!

TIPS:

Grated coconut can be added at the time of grinding.  I don't use coconut normally.

Add less water and this thogayal should not be watery like chutney.
