Healthy and Tasty Chutney made from Ridge Gourd. Ridge Gourd is called Peerkangai in Tamil, Beerakaya in Telugu, Peechinga in Malayalam, Heerakai in Kannada and Chikni Turai in Hindi. It is also called Chinese Okra.

STEP BY STEP PEERKANGAI CHUTNEY:
INGREDIENTS:
Ridge Gourd - 1 medium
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 1
Red chilli - 4 - 5
Toor Dal - 1 tbsp
Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Tamarind - gooseberry size
TO TEMPER:
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
Curry Leaves - few
HOW TO MAKE:
Wash ridge gourd, peel the skin and cut into pieces.
Heat 2 tbsp of oil, add channa dal, urad dal and red chillies. Saute until urad and channa golden brown.
Add chopped onion, tomato, ridge gourd, tamarind, asafoetida and salt. Mix well cook until soft.
Once cooked turn off the stove and cool down completely.
Transfer to blender and make a fine paste. Need not to add water.
Heat a tbsp of oil splutter mustard seeds, add urad dal and curry leaves. Saute until urad dal golden brown.
Temper the chutney. Ridge Gourd Chutney is ready to serve 😋😋
TIPS:
Grated coconut can be added at the end.
Adjust spice level of your choice.
Green Chilli can be added instead red chilli.
