TOMATO DOSA / THAKKALI DOSA




INGREDIENTS:

Idly rice           - 1 Cup
Urad dhal        - 1/4 Cup
Tomatoes        - 3 finely chopped
Salt                  - as needed


HOW TO MAKE:

Soak idly rice and urad dhal for 4 to 5 hours.  In a mixie grind rice, urad dhal and tomato together.  Grind by adding needed water and get a smooth batter.  In a bowl mix well with needed salt.  Store it in a container and leave it 7 to 8 hours for fermentation.  When you ready to make dosa add enough water to make a batter consistency like neither thick nor thin.




Heat dosa tava and when it is hot pour a ladle full of batter and spread using the circular motion to make a thin dosa.  Pour 1/2 tsp of oil around the dosa and just sprinkle on the dosa too. When it get cook the edges will become brown in color and use the dosa ladle and just flip the edge of the dosa and turn it.  Cook on the other side too. When get crispy fold the sides.





Crispy Tomato Dosa ready... :-) Serve with any choice of chutney and sambar.  I made peanut chutney for this Tomato Dosa...and wowwww it was really delicious....




TIPS:

Add ginger paste and mix well with the batter.  That too tastes yum...

Fenugreek seeds also can be used.  Soak the same with urad dhal and grind together.
