STEP BY STEP COCONUT BASIL CHUTNEY:
INGREDIENTS:
Ingredients:
Basil Leaves - handful
Coconut - 1 cup
Fried Gram Dal - 1/2 cup
Red chilli - 4 - 5
Tamarind - small piece
Salt - to taste
Water - as required
To Temper:
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tbsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp
Curry leaves - few
HOW TO MAKE:
Take fresh basil, coconut, fried gram dal, tamarind and salt in a blender.
Make a fine paste by adding little water or add for needed consistency. Transfer chutney to serving bowl.
Heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds, add urad dal and curry leaves.
Temper the chutney and serve with Idli, Dosa, Pongal & Vada or any South Indian Tiffins.
TIPS:
When seasoning hing can be added. Since the basil leaves gives nice flavor I did not add hing.
Cashews, almonds or peanuts can be added instead fried gram dal or together.
