IDLY UPMA KOZHUKATTAI





Idlies are left over? No worries....No need to make Idly upma always!!! Why not Kozhukattai?....Here you go for Idly Upma Kozhukattai with Sambar and Kothamalli (Coriander) chutney.  Yesterday night I made idly and ofcourse dont want to waste the left over.  Today morning just mashed the idlies and was ready to make idly upma but the idea of upma turned to make upma kozhukattai :-) It was yummy with the sambar and the chutney...

INGREDIENTS:

Idly                  - 10 to 15 (Left over)
Onion              - 2 finely chopped
Coriander
leave               - 1/2 bunch finely chopped
Salt                 - 1/4 Tsp

To temper:

Oil                   - 1 Tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Cumin seeds   - 1/2 Tsp
Asafoetida      - 1/4 Tsp
Red chillies    - 3

HOW TO MAKE:

Sprinkle little bit water on the left over idlies and microwave it for two minutes.  Take a bowl and mash the idlies and add the chopped onions, chopped coriander leaves and salt.  Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds and add cumin seeds, asafoetida and break the read chiliies and add the same.  Fry for a minte and add put this mixture in the mashed idlies.





Sprinkle enough water and it should be the consistency like to make an egg shape with the mixture. Take small amount of the mixture and make the egg shapes.  Do remain the same and place the kozhukattaies on the idly plate.




Steam the kozhukattaies in the idly pot for 10 minutes.  It is already cooked so just cook till you can see the steam on the pot.




Hot idly upma kozhukatties are ready to eat.  Serve with sambar and chutneys of your choice :-)
